Jonathan Dingel is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research.
Dingel’s research focuses on spatial variation in the amount and nature of economic activity across neighborhoods, cities, and countries. In 2022, his research was recognized by the Bhagwati Award and August-Lösch Prize. In 2014, Dingel received the World Trade Organization Essay Award for Young Economists. At Booth, Dingel teaches Managing the Firm in the Global Economy.
He earned his Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University in 2014. He received an M.Phil. in economics with Distinction from the University of Oxford in 2008 and an Honors B.A. in economics and political science from Gonzaga University in 2006.
